Intramurals

Eagles Intramurals

Intramurals are fun, recreational, social and competitive on-campus sports activities for AIB College of Business students, faculty, staff, and alumni. These are designed with the everyday athlete, just like you, in mind. This is a great opportunity for you to have some fun and to try that new sport you've always wanted to learn! We have everything from the traditional sports like basketball and volleyball to less mainstream sports like dodge ball and ultimate Frisbee.

It's easy to get involved. For team sports it's best to put your own team together. What better way is there to have fun with your friends or to meet new people? Put some signs up in your apartment, department, or hallway inviting people to play on your team.

The AIB Activities Department offers you a full program of organized competition in a number of events throughout the year. AIB's intramural sports are: volleyball, flag football, ultimate Frisbee, towel hockey, bowling, sand volleyball, and many more. Intramural activities emphasize group spirit and the enjoyment of sports in a less competitive context.

Help us provide you with a rewarding recreational experience by sharing your ideas and encouraging others to be active. Our staff will be happy to help meet your recreational needs while providing a friendly, helpful and safe environment. Upcoming Intramurals

With the philosophy of "something for everyone," AIB's Eagles Intramurals offers over 16 sports to meet the diverse interests of the student, faculty, staff, and alumni population. We try to have 3 competitive intramurals as well as one tournament per term resulting in 4 ways to get involved in our activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are Intramural Sports?

The Intramural Program at AIB College of Business is designed to provide organized competitive and recreational activities for participants of all levels and abilities. Structured leagues and tournaments are offered in a variety of team, individual and dual activities ranging from Flag Football and Volleyball to Badminton and Texas Hold'Em Poker.

Who Can Play Intramurals?

Current students and faculty/staff (and the occasional alumni) of AIB College of Business are eligible to participate in the Intramural Program. Spouses of students and faculty/staff are also eligible. There are some eligibility restrictions on intercollegiate team and sport club members. Contact an Intramural Coordinator in the Activities Center if you have any eligibility questions.

What Activities Do We Offer?

A full listing of the upcoming intramurals is available for your viewing at … and you will also receive periodic emails with that term's intramurals for easy reading and sign-up. For specific information, go to the Recreation Services website, www.aibeagles.com, or check the bulletin boards and flyer display areas around AIB's campus.

How Do I Get Involved

Individuals, as well as teams, are encouraged to participate in many intramurals throughout the year. Teams are usually formed from residence hall floors, student organizations, hometown affiliations and often simply groups of friends. Each team should designate a "captain" or "contact person" when signing up for the various activities and that person will be your representative. All entries must be submitted via email or direct contact.

Free Agents

If you want to play, but don't have enough people to form a team, don't fret, we can still get you involved. All you need to do is sign up as a free agent with the Activities Staff under that particular intramural that you want to participate in. Your name will be available to any other individual as well as team captains looking for players or partners. The Free Agent system is designed to help match up people who don't have teams with teams that don't have enough people. You will be notified via email with more information when you have been chosen by a team. There is no guarantee you will be selected by a team. The Intramural Program does not put together teams; it's entirely run by you, the students. It is possible for a free agent to create your own team with other free agents - if applicable. If you have any questions or concerns about the FREE AGENT program contact Kristin Meyer at 515-697-5935. By participating in the Free Agent system, you are making your personal information entered available for public viewing.

Intramural Champion T-Shirts

Members of championship teams are eligible for individual awards. Individual and dual sport tournament winners also receive awards. In order to qualify, your name must have appeared on a scorecard. If you have more players than the maximum number allowed, t-shirts may be purchased for a fee. Each award/t-shirt is generally FREE unless otherwise discussed. Awards must be picked up within one calendar month.
